Elizabeth Buckley Middle School

Our program creates a respectful and meaningful education experience for all learners.

About

Elizabeth Buckley Middle School integrates hands-on experiences designed to foster critical thinking skills, global citizenship, and literacy in the STEaM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts). Through inquiry, students are able to pursue areas of interest and personalize their learning. Integrated use of technology prepares students for their future in a digital world.

Elizabeth Buckley Middle School opened at its downtown Victoria location in September 2015. We share a learning space with the Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry (PSII), an independent high school. The site is located on Douglas Street just north of the Victoria Conference Centre.

Elizabeth Buckley School has have been offering quality education to Victoria youth since 1987. We are a Group 1 Independent School that follows the BC Ministry of Education guidelines. Our programs meet, and often exceed, the competencies listed in the BC Curriculum. Elizabeth Buckley School continues to offer an outstanding elementary school program (K-5) at its current location on Hillside Avenue.

Why downtown?

Our Nootka Court facility is close to Beacon Hill Park, playing fields, the YMCA, the BC Provincial Museum, and the ocean. The location is rich with accessible opportunities for learning, physical fitness, and mentorship. The building is secure and wheelchair accessible.

Getting there…

Transit buses stop outside the front door of the school. When going on field trips outside of downtown, students are given transit bus tickets. The city block on which the school sits has multiple loading zones that can be used for convenient drop-off. For those who need to park and come into the school, there are two parkades close by that offer 1 hour of free parking. For cyclists, the building has secure storage for bikes.

School Day Schedule

The school days run from 9:00am to 3:00pm. A typical day starts and ends with a class check-in meeting and is a combination of open work periods with teacher facilitation, targeted skills sessions, hands-on activities, and daily physical activity. Part of the PE program takes place at the YMCA, and each student receives a membership for the months that we are there.

Elizabeth Buckley School develops critical thinking, responsible citizenship and STEaM literacy through creative, collaborative, experiential learning in an inclusive environment.
